The Winnipeg Jets and Vegas Golden Knights are renewing their rivalry tonight. I don’t know if it is a rivalry as much as it is two teams who very early on played a playoff series against each other and one of the teams got walked. But alas, they are playing and it is the second game of a back to back for the Jets. This game would typically be known as a scheduled loss, but both teams can be unpredictable and it is early in the season, so anything could happen.

The Jets are expected to start David Rittich (Big Save Dave for all you backup goalie connoisseurs) in his first game of the year. It is important that Connor Hellebuyck gets some rest in over the balance of the season and Rittich needs to play in case he has to step in for any reason. Outside of Rittich starting, the Jets are hopefully going to have Nikolaj Ehlers back in the lineup, but there is no new information there. Otherwise, Mason Appleton performed admirably in his place.

The Golden Knights currently have no injuries to report unless we are counting Robin Lehner who is out for the season with a hip injury (just horrible for a goalie). It appears that former Jet Laurent Brossoit has recovered from his hip injury. The rest of the Golden Knights appear to have their health which is a change from last year.

Depending on the Jets energy levels, this should be a good game. If the Jets bring their discipline and play a boring style of hockey while being willing to eat it sometimes, the game should go well for them. They are not necessarily a pretty team, but their two wins this year have come from them playing disciplined hockey.
