Preview: Winnipeg Jets vs. Dallas Stars

Time: 7:30 PM CDT

Channel: TSN3

Radio: CJOB

The Winnipeg Jets are playing their Central Division rivals the Dallas Stars tonight in Dallas. They are still without head coach Rick Bowness who will miss the first game against his former team with COVID. Outside of that, the Jets are still running at 100% strength, but could make some lineup changes if Scott Arniel would like to get more players into the mix.

The Jets will also finally have a regular schedule after starting off the season very slowly. They will play for this down the line. For the moment we should expect to see Connor Hellebuyck start this game and then see David Rittich later this week.

The Jets will want to recreate their first and third periods against the New York Rangers while trying to avoid their typical second period lag. They will have to keep their intensity up, continue activating their defence, and using their speed to attack the other team. Their new-look first line with Nikolaj Ehlers alongside Kyle Connor and Mark Scheifele has shown a lot of promise. Maybe this is the season Ehlers will finally get his due.

The Dallas Stars are currently 2-0 and took the boots to division rival the Nashville Predators already this year. They will be looking to continue their run of wins against the Jets, relying on a balanced roster of scoring to win their games. They will most likely be starting Jake Oettinger in goal.

Prediction: A tough divisional game.
