Goaltender Henrik Lundqvist has retired from pro hockey. Drafted in the seventh round, 205th overall, in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft by the New York Rangers, Lundqvist has a 459-310-96 record, 0.918 Save%, 2.43 GAA, and 64 shutouts in 887 games, as well as a 61-67 record, 0.921 Save%, 2.30 GAA, and 10 shutouts in 130 playoff games, for the New York Rangers (2005/06-2019/20). Lundqvist backstopped the Rangers to the postseason in nearly all of his seasons for the Rangers, save for 2010 and each of the 2018 and 2019 seasons, also helping the Rangers qualify for the Qualifying Round in 2020. His career-bests were 39 wins, a 0.930 Save%, 1.97 GAA, all in 2012, and 11 shutouts in 2011, all with the Rangers. While he never won a Stanley Cup, he came close, with an Eastern Conference Final appearance in 2012 and a Stanley Cup Final appearance in 2014. He won the Vezina Trophy in 2012, and was named to the First and Second All-Star teams in 2012 and 2013, respectively. He played in the 2009, 2011, and 2012 All-Star Games and also won Olympic Gold and Silver in 2006 and 2014, respectively. In his last season, Lundqvist posted a 10-12-3 record, 0.905 Save%, 3.16 GAA, and one shutout in 30 games for the Rangers in 2019/20. Lundqvist was let go by the Rangers in 2020 in favour of youth, and signed with the Washington Capitals, only to be forced to sit the entire season out with a heart condition. Lundqvist, 39, is considered a lock to be a first-ballot Hall-of-Famer, and will be eligible in 2023.
