The Winnipeg Jets continue to come up tops this off-season, extending Real Deal Neal for Norris Pionk over the next 4 seasons. Best of all, Pionk’s returning at a reasonable cap hit of $5.875M per year. The recent defender signings had made me nervous about Pionk’s negotiations, but the Jets have locked him up without going overboard. The term is tidy too, lasting through most of Pionk’s best seasons. The only outstanding contract to deal with is Andrew Copp. Signing Pionk was the bigger priority, so I’m glad Winnipeg worked out a contact to avoid a massive loss to their blueline.
