Anaheim Ducks

The Ducks signed right winger Alexander Volkov to a one-year contract extension.

Arizona Coyotes

The Coyotes acquired goaltender Josef Korenar and a 2022 second-round pick from San Jose. They acquired left winger Andrew Ladd, a 2021 second-round pick, a conditional 2022 second-round pick, and a conditional 2023 third-round pick from the Islanders. They acquired defenceman Shayne Gostisbehere, a 2022 second-round pick, and a 2022 seventh-round pick from Philadelphia. They acquired centre Jay Beagle, right wingers Loui Eriksson and Antoine Roussel, a 2021 first-round pick, a 2022 second-round pick, and a 2023 seventh-round pick from Vancouver.

Boston Bruins

The Bruins signed left winger Taylor Hall to a four-year contract extension.

Buffalo Sabres

The Sabres acquired defenceman Robert Hagg, a 2021 first-round pick, and a 2023 second-round pick from Philadelphia.

Calgary Flames

The Flames acquired right winger Tyler Pitlick from Seattle. Defenceman Nikita Nesterov has signed a one-year contract in Russia with the KHL’s CSKA Moscow.

Carolina Hurricanes

The Hurricanes acquired goaltender Jonathan Bernier and a 2021 third-round pick from Detroit. They acquired a 2021 second-round pick from Columbus.

Chicago Blackhawks

The Blackhawks acquired defenceman Seth Jones, a 2021 first-round pick, and a 2022 sixth-round pick from Columbus.

Colorado Avalanche

The Avalanche signed right winger Kiefer Sherwood to a one-year contract.

Left winger Matt Calvert has retired from pro hockey. Drafted in the fifth round, 127th overall, in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft by the Columbus Blue Jackets, Calvert has 203 points (95G, 108A) in 566 games, as well as 17 points (7G, 10A) in 32 games, for Columbus (2010/11-2017/18) and Colorado (2018/19-2020/21). Calvert has career highs of 26 points, in 2019 with Colorado, 13 goals in 2015 with Columbus, and 15 assists in 2014 and 2018 with Columbus and 2019 with Colorado. Calvert never turned into a great scorer or anything, but carved out a decade-long career as exactly the kind of player a modern NHL team should want in its bottom-six. Calvert finished his last NHL season with three points (0G, 3A) in 18 games for the Colorado Avalanche. Calvert, 31, has chosen retirement due to a career-ending injury.

Columbus Blue Jackets

The Blue Jackets acquired defenceman Adam Boqvist, a 2021 first-round pick, a 2021 second-round pick, and a 2022 first-round pick from Chicago. They acquired defenceman Jake Bean from Carolina.

Centre Jiri Novotny, who last played in the NHL for Columbus from 2007/08 to 2008/09, has retired from pro hockey. Drafted in the first round, 22nd overall, in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft by the Buffalo Sabres, Novotny has 51 points (20G, 31A) in 189 games, as well as zero points in four playoff games, for Buffalo (2005/06-partway through 2006/07), Washington (part of 2006/07), and Columbus (2007/08-2008/09). Novotny never wound up living up to his potential, but managed to eke out a few seasons, reaching career highs of 22 points, eight goals, and 14 assists in 2008 with Columbus. Novotny, after leaving the NHL in 2009, returned to Europe to play in various leagues. He finished his final NHL season with seven points (4G, 3A) in 42 games for the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2008/09 and finished his final pro season with 15 points in 46 games for the Swiss National League’s HC Ambri-Piotta. Novotny, 37, will be entering the sports management business.

Dallas Stars

The Stars acquired a 2021 third-round pick from Vancouver. They signed defenceman Miro Heiskanen to an eight-year contract extension.

Detroit Red Wings

The Red Wings acquired goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic from Carolina. They signed centre Michael Rasmussen to a three-year contract extension.

Edmonton Oilers

The Oilers signed goaltender Mike Smith to a two-year contract extension.

Florida Panthers

The Panthers made no moves this week.

Los Angeles Kings

The Kings made no moves this week.

Minnesota Wild

The Wild signed centre Joseph Cramarossa to a two-year contract extension.

Montreal Canadiens

The Canadiens made no moves this week.

Nashville Predators

The Predators acquired centre Nolan Patrick and defenceman Philippe Myers from Philadelphia and centre Cody Glass from Vegas.

New Jersey Devils

The Devils made no moves this week.

New York Islanders

The Islanders signed defenceman Andy Greene to a one-year contract extension. They acquired no return from Arizona.

New York Rangers

The Rangers acquired centre Barclay Goodrow from Tampa Bay and acquired defenceman Nick DeSimone and a 2022 fourth-round pick from Vegas. They acquired right winger Sammy Blais and a 2022 second-round pick from St. Louis. They signed Goodrow to a six-year contract extension.

Ottawa Senators

The Senators made no moves this week.

Philadelphia Flyers

The Flyers acquired defenceman Ryan Ellis from Nashville. They acquired no return from Arizona. They acquired defenceman Rasmus Ristolainen from Buffalo.

Pittsburgh Penguins

The Penguins acquired left winger Filip Hallander and a 2023 seventh-round pick from Toronto.

San Jose Sharks

The Sharks acquired goaltender Adin Hill and a 2022 seventh-round pick from Arizona. They signed left winger Rudolfs Balcers to a two-year contract extension. They signed right winger Joachim Blichfeld to a one-year contract extension.

Seattle Kraken

The Lightning signed defenceman Fredrik Claesson to a one-year contract extension. They signed centre Gemel Smith to a two-year contract extension.

Toronto Maple Leafs

The Maple Leafs acquired centre Jared McCann from Pittsburgh. They signed goaltender Joseph Woll to a one-year contract extension.

Vancouver Canucks

The Canucks acquired centre Jason Dickinson from Dallas. They acquired right winger Conor Garland and defenceman Oliver Ekman-Larsson from Arizona.

Vegas Golden Knights

The Golden Knights acquired centre Brett Howden from the Rangers and acquired centre Nolan Patrick from Nashville.

Washington Capitals
