Centre Drew Shore has retired from pro hockey. Drafted in the second round, 44th overall, in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft by the Florida Panthers, Shore 26 points (9G, 17A) in 98 games, as well as zero points in one playoff game, for Florida (2012/13-2013/14), Calgary (2014/15-2015/16), Vancouver (2016/17), and Carolina (2020/21). With such a short career with so few NHL games played, Shore’s career-highs are 13 points and 10 assists in 2013, and five goals in 2014, all with Florida. In his last season, both as a pro and as an NHLer, he scored zero points in four games with Carolina and one point in seven games for AHL Chicago. Shore, 30, announced his retirement via Instagram in the link above.

Defenceman Stephen Johns has retired from pro hockey. Drafted in the second round, 60th overall, in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft by the Chicago Blackhawks, Johns has 33 points (15G, 18A) in 167 games, as well as zero points in 17 playoff games, for the Dallas Stars (2015/16-2017/18, 2019/20). Johns made it onto the Stars roster full-time starting in 2016 and did a serviceable job as a shut-down defenceman. Johns has career highs of 15 points, eight goals, and seven assists in 2017/18. Johns finished his final NHL season with five points (2G, 3A) in 17 games, as well as four points in two games for AHL Texas. Johns, 29, retires after missing all of 2018/19, most of 2019/20, and all of 2020/21 with a head injury.
