Preview: Winnipeg Jets vs. Edmonton Oilers

Time: 9:00 PM CST

Channel: CBC, Sportsnet

Radio: CJOB

The Winnipeg Jets and Edmonton Oilers are playing again which means that the vaunted battle of Neal Pionk vs. Connor McDavid can be re-started. This battle is basically Pionk defending really well against McDavid and McDavid not scoring because of it. Naturally because I have said this, McDavid shall go and have a five goal game tonight.

The Jets get off easy as the Oilers do not have Ryan Nugent-Hopkins to contend with as he is out with an injury. Their second line centre is gone as I believe the Oilers are continuing to stack their first line with both McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. This seems against better judgement as it makes a team even more top heavy than they already are which in turn makes them easier to play against. They could have two extremely good centres come at teams back to back.

After tonight’s game the Jets have a couple days off. This will hopefully lead to the return of Blake Wheeler who has been out with a concussion for the past few games. In his absence the Jets have enjoyed the strong play of Nikolaj Ehlers who broke out of his mini-slump in a big way against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Hopefully he can continue his strong play tonight and bury the Oilers as well.

It is possible that Ville Heinola appears to be out of the lineup because nothing develops a player better than having them sit in the pressbox.

Take a nap before tonight’s game because it will be a late one.
