Preview: Winnipeg Jets vs. Ottawa Senators

Time: 6:00 PM CST

Channel: TSN3

Radio: CJOB

The Winnipeg Jets and Ottawa Senators are playing again tonight. The Jets will be without new defenceman Jordie Benn who will join the team on Friday. Instead, the same Winnipeg Jets group will be on the ice tonight and hopefully they manage a different result than their last game against the Sens. The Sens are objectively bad, but they still require a full game’s worth of effort to beat them.

The Sens might be a better team than they were prior to the trade deadline with the waiver acquisition of Victor Mete. Mete is a player who should have never been waived by the Montreal Canadiens, so they actively made themselves worse and their opponents better for free.

The Jets remain without Blake Wheeler as he continues to recover from a concussion. He is skating in Winnipeg, but will not return to the lineup for at least 10 days. Wheeler’s extended absence could be a gain for the Jets in the long-term as he will be more rested when the playoffs come.

It is highly unlikely that the Jets will make any lineup changes because they almost never make any lineup changes. Why change something that works even if it looks bad?
