Preview: Game on Deadline Day

Time: 6:00 PM CST

TV: TSN3

Radio: CJOB

The Winnipeg Jets and the Ottawa Senators are playing on NHL Trade Deadline Day. There will be debates about whether games should be played on this day or not, but this year it does not matter. Players have to quarantine upon arrival now which is not a bad thing.

The Sens are the Sens. They are the worst team in the North Division and they just traded Brayden Coburn which would have been notable eight years ago. So they will be not as good as they were last time the Jets played the Sens if Coburn helped at all.

The Jets are in a weird place where they need a defenceman to shore up their defence, but their best move would be to call up Ville Heinola and their second best move would be to pick Victor Mete off waivers. It is highly doubtful that the Jets will do either move and if they trade for a defenceman it will be for a nice stay at home defenceman. The more things change…

The Jets and Sens will be at the end of a long day for some. Some teams will have made a bunch of moves and some will have not. Either way, the game will go on tonight and we will once again be reminded that the Ottawa Senators are a team.
