The Toronto Maple Leafs have been running the North Division and the Winnipeg Jets have been the second best team, so why does this game feel like it is not a match up between the top two teams in the division? Because while the Jets are good, they are so wildly inconsistent that they only really managed to play two out of three periods of a game most nights. It is wild.
The Leafs are close to the juggernaut they were expected to be, but the North is truly a crazy division and that applies to the Leafs as well. They have struggled against the Ottawa Senators of all teams. If they Jets want to win, they need to be puck hounds and push the Leafs as much as they can. They also have to be able to play the full game and be relentless. When going up against the best team in the division, you have to play like there is nothing to lose and everything to gain.
Outside of the Jets needing to play at a fast pace, they also have to be ready for the Leafs depth and skill. Both these things are easier said than done. The Jets defence could have a fun night tonight.
