New, comments

Oh dear.

Sometimes, you’re the hammer. Sometimes, you’re the nail that gets slammed so many times, it tears through the other side and completely exits the material. The Jets were the latter in a rematch against the Canadiens. Despite a promising early start, Winnipeg fell apart after a fluky goal or 2. I thought about recapping this one in detail, but to be honest, it was a bit too much of a horror-show to dig into. I’ve put some reactions in GIFs instead, as well as a few takeaways.

The First Period

The Second Period

The Third Period

Three Takeaways

Beaulieu has to get sat.

Logan Stanley is collecting Cheetoh dust in the press box. Get the kid some games. Beaulieu is struggling on just about every front possible and Stanley needs ice time. Logan will likely outperform the veteran defender, and really does deserve a shot at earning the spot.

Kyle Connor has to defend at some point!

We all love when KFC scores goals. It’s the other stuff he does in between that drives us nuts. On several shifts inside the DZ, Connor was utterly absent. In the other end of the ice, he felt like the weakest link on his line with Dubois and Ehlers. I know Connor’s linemates aren’t always perfect, but KFC isn’t giving them much support at all.

I feel bad for anyone who watched this game.

Aside from a nifty Mathieu Perreault goal, the Jets just kinda stopped playing after the first period. The second goal against really seemed to snowball into a 7-1 loss. I don’t know what happened but the team collapsed badly. They cannot allow this to happen against an opportunistic Leafs team this week.
