The Winnipeg Jets have had a rockier run over the past week or 2. Facing an increasing volume of higher-quality teams on the road, the Jets have been alternating wins and losses in a fairly direct pattern. Having lost to the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday, the Jets will look to rebound and split the season record once again. Truth be told, I expect Winnipeg to win this one. They were a bit unlucky in the first game and could not get past Dave Tippett’s mind-numbing boredom late. This time around, I think the Jets will win by a decently comfortable margin against a team they should’ve beaten a few days ago.
The Oilers have a lot of work to do in their own right. Aside from the neutral zone trap and Connor McDavid’s goals, they did a whole lot of nothing. I’d argue that, aside from a few decent possessions here and there, they were a bit garbage. That may sound rich coming from a fan of the losing squad, but Edmonton really struggled to create anything once McDavid was on the bench. Hopefully, that trend continues in this rubber match.
