Preview: Winnipeg Jets vs. Montreal Canadiens

Time: 8:00 PM CST

Channel: TSN3

Radio: CJOB

The Winnipeg Jets and Montreal Canadiens are playing again. After a masterful game against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday, the Jets looked to pick up where they left off on Monday except for the turnovers. I love a good turnover. They are delicious baked good, but they are terrible in hockey. The Jets missed that memo and gave the Habs chance after chance by serving the puck up on a platter.

Turnovers are a sign of being ill-prepared. Physically they were there, but their mental exhaustion came out in their turnovers. Could they have done something different? I don’t actually know. Their mental fatigue was obvious and kind of unsurprising. This year has been mentally exhausting. It has been roughly a year since everything was shut down. It has been a long year for anyone functioning with a heart and off games are a bi-product of that. Still, it stands out.

It also stands out that the Jets defence is not good enough. It sounds like Kevin Cheveldayoff is open to calling up some young defenders to shore things up instead of making a trade which would probably be a good idea. Ville Heinola and Dylan Samberg might both work and while Mattias Ekholm is The Dream, he might be too pricey to trade for which is fine. The Jets just need someone on defence to help carry the load.

After tomorrow night’s game we enter Late Game Time so be prepared for a lot of complaints.
