Preview: Winnipeg Jets vs. Edmonton Oilers

Time: 9:00 PM CST

The previous meeting this week between the Edmonton Oilers and Winnipeg Jets was explosive, to say the least. Both teams decided throwback, chaotic hockey was the way to go. The Jets stopped playing after grabbing a 4-1 lead and nearly paid the price, but thankfully, the Oilers weren’t great at defending either. After eking out a 6-5 win, Winnipeg needs to establish a cleaner formula for victory. Facing McDavid and the lads again won’t make that task any easier.

From Edmonton’s perspective, their goaltending and defensive miscues remain a sore spot. Some of their depth forwards have stepped up, but the rest of the roster past the top lines is still a mess. They can’t afford to let the Jets grab a significant lead, especially if Hellebuyck or Brossoit stonewalls them in net. Will McDavid and Draisaitl supernova against a weakened Jets defense, or will the Jets rough the Oilers up for a second straight outing?
