Game 1/4: Winnipeg Jets vs. Calgary Flames

Time: 7:00 PM CST

Channel: TSN3

Radio: CJOB680/Power97

After a weird one-off game against the Vancouver Canucks that we are going to collectively forget, the Winnipeg Jets are playing a four game series against the Calgary Flames. If you do not think that tomorrow’s game will feature Groundhog Day jokes, you do not know this blog at all.

But first with the Flames: they are one of the stronger teams in the North Division. They beat the Montreal Canadiens in regulation becoming the first team to do so. However, they still got outchanced and outplayed in that game, so all is not lost. That said, the Flames are a good team and after Andrew Mangiapane escaped supplemental discipline for a hit to the head of Jesperi Kotkaniemi, they are at full strength as well.

The Jets are looking for a bounce-back game. They are going to need to play all three periods this game unless the Flames decide to not play all three periods as well. Wouldn’t that be nice. But they probably will have to play all three periods and that is something that the Jets have struggled with. They no longer simply overpower teams and that is becoming an issue for them. We shall see if they can do it tonight.
