It’s been a rollercoaster for Winnipeg over the past week and a half. A trio of defeats, the captain diagnosed with COVID, and a current COVID scare with Mark Scheifele has the Jets fandom in a bit of an uproar. No team could use a home visit more than the Jets, and a rematch with the Ducks may be the antidote to a difficult start to the season. Without Scheifele taking the ice, Winnipeg’s line-up is going to be incredibly fluid. Mark may end up playing this evening if he’s cleared, but for now, the Jets will have to plan for his absence. Winnipeg really needs a statement game against Anaheim to restore confidence and ease fan tension. If the Jets fall for a fourth straight game, the chorus of voices calling for a coaching change will only grow stronger. It feels like a lot is riding on such an early game in the season, but the Jets need to adjust course quickly. Doing some duck hunting could be the cure to what ails them...
