Game 1 Preview: Winnipeg Jets vs. Anaheim Ducks

Time: 8:00 PM CST

Channel: Sportsnet360, Sportsnet1

Radio: CJOB 680

Regular season hockey is back and so are we! The Winnipeg Jets are playing the Anaheim Ducks. Expect Cole Perfetti to make his NHL debut tonight which is great even if he does not stick around full time. This should be a good time for all involved. Namely us the fans who get to watch it live.

Outside of Perfetti making his NHL debut, the Jets will be running a sensible lineup as long as Logan Stanley plays ahead of Nathan Beaulieu. I love Ville Heinola as much as the next person, but he absolutely needs to get some games in at the AHL level first because he sat in the press box almost all of last year.

The Jets will be without MarK Scheifele who is finishing up serving his suspension from last year’s playoffs. This is why Perfetti is making his NHL debut tonight and is also good news for the Jets because it means that Scheifele will only be out for a game and they can choose what to do with Perfetti after that. Remember, they can send him down at any point this year if he need it.

Outside of that, the Jets have a lot of players making their regular season premieres for the team including most of the defence. Unlike players who get traded mid-season, all these players have had time to learn the Jets system and get used to the players. Also, Connor Hellebuyck will be starting so no worries there. See you all after you have a nap for tonight’s game.
