After a recent second diagnosis of cancer, Eric Hawerchuck has announced his father Dale “Ducky” Hawerchuk has died of cancer. Hawerchuk had stomach cancer.
After an incredibly brave and difficult battle with cancer, our dad has passed away. My family is so proud of him and the way he fought. #HawerchukStrong pic.twitter.com/xZ1xcaqAOv

Cancer sucks. Watching someone die of cancer sucks because there is little that can be done outside of making them feel more comfortable in their last days. There is little that can be done to stop the pain and stop them from wasting away.
Hawerchuk still has an impact on the Winnipeg Jets organization as he coached Mark Scheifele with the Barrie Colts of the OHL. His work with Scheifele helped him develop into the player he is today.
I am far too young to have any Hawerchuk memories myself. Please feel free to share them in the comments.
Finally, dying from cancer does not mean that someone lost a battle. Cancer, like so many diseases, spares no one in its vicious path. When cancer wants to kill you, it does so without mercy.
Condolences to his family and friends who are undoubtedly grieving their loss.
