Preview: Winnipeg Jets vs Edmonton Oilers

Time: 8:00 PM CST

Channel: Sportsnet

Radio: TSN1290

The Winnipeg Jets and Edmonton Oilers are playing once again. Connor McDavid missed their last game with an illness (speaking from experience, the cold going around is an absolute doozy) so the Jets might only have to contend with Leon Draisaitl which is still a lot and not something I would recommend considering how last game went.

The Jets are the team who are one spot out of the wild card position. They need to win as many games as they can going forward. If last game against the Oilers is any indication, their best chance tonight is to stay out of the penalty box and keep the Oilers at even strength as they got burned last game on the penalty kill. However, we cannot discount the Oilers at even strength and they could surprise you at any moment especially if McDavid is also healthy.

As for the Jets, it is more of the same. They need to play their best, game in and game out. They have their defence set up to maximize their strengths with Tucker Poolman on the third pair and Dylan DeMelo looking like a very smart acquisition on the first pair. Connor Hellebuyck will likely get the start with the Jets being blessed with a lack of back to back games recently.

In the good news category, Mark Letestu is doing better and has joined the Manitoba Moose as he recovers from a heart condition.

Prediction

I fall asleep mid-game.
