The Winnipeg Jets are playing the Washington Capitals the night after the NHL Trade Deadline. The Jets made no more moves after acquiring Dylan DeMelo and Cody Eakin while the Caps made two trades: one for Atlanta Thrashers legend Ilya Kovalchuk and one for Daniel Sprong.

Outside of that, the Caps have been fantastic this season and one of the top teams in the NHL. Alex Ovechkin is still a goal scoring machine and has recently scored his 700th NHL goal. At least he won’t do that against the Jets. However, they have been struggling in their last ten games with far more losses than wins. They have lots of time to turn it around and slumps are normal in the middle of the season, but they will want to fix it soon.

As for the Jets it is the same old song and dance. They are a middle of the pack team and as of this morning they are not in a playoff spot. That could change, but it also could not and either way, they are behind still chasing. If they are able to get it together enough to make the playoffs, they will have a tough series in general.
