Trade Deadline Open Talk

The NHL Trade Deadline came upon us faster then I realized it would and here we are: The Day James Duthie Entertains Legions of Fans with Animals!

The Winnipeg Jets should be fairly quiet on the deadline, but who knows with Kevin Cheveldayoff. He has shown himself to be a “soft buyer” this year meaning he is trading for help, but not giving up much and not getting a huge amount in return. Dylan DeMelo has been fine for the Jets and Cody Eakin could work out fine, but if those are the type of moves that Cheveldayoff is going to make, they will probably be minimal today.

The other thing to watch is if the Jets send anyone down to the AHL for the Clear Day Roster. Someone like Jansen Harkins could easily be sent down to play after the Jets are done, but he will need to go down to the AHL today to be allowed to play in the post-season.

As for the rest of the NHL: the Montreal Canadiens’ Ilya Kovalchuk was traded to the Washington Capitals for a third yesterday and Mike Green from the Detroil Red Wings was traded to the Edmonton Oilers for Kyle Brodziak and a pick. The deadline is going to be lit, y’all!
