The Winnipeg Jets and New York Rangers are playing each other tonight in Winnipeg in what promises to be a heated game. Tonight is the return of Jacob Trouba who asked to be traded from Winnipeg to the New York area as his partner was going to medical school there. He will be booed and the atmosphere will be more fun for it.

Outside of Trouba, the Rangers are having a year where they are essentially who we thought they were. They were never going to make the playoffs and that remains true. However, they are clearly better than a team like the Buffalo Sabres and worse than a team like the Boston Bruins. In short, the Jets are playing a team like the Chicago Blackhawks.

The Jets are coming off of a difficult win against the Blackhawks. It was difficult because they were trailing almost as soon as the puck was dropped and had to claw back into the game. They will probably want to have a better start tonight to make the entire game easier on themselves, but Sunday’s game allowed them to show their resiliency as a team.

The Jets are coming off of two strong games. They are hoping to have another strong outing tonight to make it clear that they are still in contention to hold onto that Wild Card spot they are currently in.

Prediction

Jacob Trouba scores and gets booed even more.
