Preview: Winnipeg Jets vs. Carolina Hurricanes

The Winnipeg Jets are continuing their road trip in Carolina against the Carolina Hurricanes. The Canes are in the second Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference while the Jets are in third (first spot out) in the Western Conference. Both teams will want a win tonight to up their odds of making the playoffs.

This is the Jets second last game before the All Star Break and a few extra days off for them. Once again, Connor Hellebuyck needs a rest so that is a great thing for him. Laurent Brossoit has not started a game in what seems like years and tonight could be the night (haha Cara, you know it is not the night). They are going to ride Hellebuyck into the ground because they need their top goalie to make the playoffs, but there are signs of fatigue including mental mistakes that he would normally not make. Sometimes you have to sacrifice one game to help the team in the long run.

The Jets defence will be tested once again. Based on previous seasons, the Canes have a fairly relentless offence that badgers you into conceding the puck. This could be another tough test for the Jets defenders and it is unlikely they will end up looking good. Hopefully playing in front of those closest to them brings out their best.
