Preview: Winnipeg Jets vs Chicago Blackhawks

Time: 6:00 PM CST

Channel: Sportsnet

Radio: TSN1290

The Winnipeg Jets are taking their mom’s (or other important women) on the road for a three game road trip and their first stop is Chicago. While there the Jets will take on the Chicago Blackhawks, a team who has really climbed up the standings in recent weeks. They are only one spot behind the Jets in the Wildcard Standings, but they have played one more game. Both teams are four to five teams behind some teams ahead of them in the standings when it comes to games played.

The Jets have been struggling lately. The flaws that have been there all season are really starting to come out and it is hurting the Jets game overall. They need to turn it around and have another consistent run of games if they want to make the playoffs. The good news for them is that they will be on the road for the next three games which will benefit them as they are a better team on the road than at home.

The Chicago Blackhawks have been a much stronger team over the past ten games and could present a bigger challenge to the Jets than they did in previous meetings this season. Because of their recent improvement it would not be fair to look at the teams’ previous meetings to make a prediction as to how the two team should play tonight. When teams are going on runs or through slumps, you have to take that into account. Also, I have not seen the Hawks play much this season.

The Jets might start Laurent Brossoit tonight. Their other two games on this road trip are against the Carolina Hurricanes and the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Hawks are the lowest team in the standings out of the three and honestly, Connor Hellebuyck needs a rest.

Prediction

I get stuck watching football instead of hockey.
