Centre Kyle Brodziak has retired from pro hockey. Drafted in the seventh round, 214th overall, in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft by the Edmonton Oilers, Brodziak has 296 points (129G, 167A) in 917 games, as well as 12 points (5G, 7A) in 57 playoff games, for Edmonton (2005/06-2008/09, 2018/19), Minnesota (2009/10-2014/15), and St. Louis (2015/16- 2017/18). During his first stint with the Oilers in the late 2000s, Brodziak lined up with Curtis Glencross and Zack Stortini, both of whom are also now retired, on what was at the time considered one of the league’s better bottom-six lines. After that line’s dissolution, Brodziak would go on to prove himself a solid secondary scorer, his greatest hits including a 16-goal 37-point campaign in 2011, the 22-goal 44-point season that followed, or his 10-goal 33-point season in 2018, his last year with St. Louis. Brodziak’s career highs are his 44 points and 22 goals from 2012 with Minnesota, and 23 assists from 2010 with Minnesota and 2018 with St. Louis. Brodziak finished his final NHL season with nine points (3G, 6A) in 70 games for Edmonton. Brodziak, 35, opted to retire after several years of back issues, but as he still has one year left on the contract he signed with Edmonton in 2018, will spend the season on Long-term injured reserve.
