Goaltender Cam Ward has retired from pro hockey. Drafted in the first round, 25th overall, in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft by the Carolina Hurricanes, Ward has a 334-256-88 record, 0.908 Save%, 2.74 GAA, and 27 shutouts in 701 games; as well as a 23-18 record, 0.917 Save%, 2.38 GAA, and four shutouts in 41 playoff games, for Carolina (2005/06-2017/18) and Chicago (2018/19). Ward has career-bests of 39 wins and six shutouts in 2009, and a 0.923 Save% and 2.40 GAA in 2015, all with Carolina. Ward won the Stanley Cup and Conn Smythe Trophy in 2006 with the Hurricanes and represented them in the 2011 NHL All-Star Game. Ward, 35, finished his last NHL season with a 16-12-4 record, 0.897 Save%, 3.67 GAA, and zero shutouts in 33 games for Chicago. Ward signed a one-day contract with Carolina so he could technically retire as a member of the Hurricanes.

Defenceman Ben Lovejoy has retired from pro hockey. Signed as an undrafted free agent in 2008 by the Pittsburgh Penguins, Lovejoy has 101 points (20G, 81A) in 544 games, as well as 16 points (5G, 11A) in 76 playoff games, for Pittsburgh (2009/10-partway through 2012/13, partway through 2014/15-2015/16) Anaheim (partway through 2012/13-2014/15), New Jersey (2016/17-partway through 2018/19), and Dallas (part of 2018/19). Lovejoy spent his career as a depth defenceman, but did win a Stanley Cup in 2016 with Pittsburgh. Lovejoy reached his career-highs of 18 points and five goals in 2014 with Anaheim and 14 assists in 2011 with Pittsburgh. Lovejoy, 35, finished his last season with nine points (2G, 7A) in 71 games between New Jersey and Dallas.

Drafted in the sixth round, 172nd overall, in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft by the Nashville Predators, McKenna has a 7-17-3 record, 0.890 Save%, 3.60 GAA, and one shutout in 35 games for Tampa Bay (2008/09), New Jersey (2010/11), Columbus (2013/14), Arizona (2014/15), Dallas (2017/18), Ottawa (part of 2018/19) and Philadelphia (part of 2018/19). McKenna spent most of his career in the minors, but was always seen as an option for a callup and twice cracked ten games played. McKenna has career-bests of four wins and one shutout in 2009 with Tampa Bay, 0.904 Save% in 2014 with Columbus, and 2.96 GAA in 2018 with Dallas. McKenna, 36, finished his final season with a 1-5-1 record, 0.892 Save%, 3.99 GAA, and zero shutouts in 11 games between Ottawa and Philadelphia, as well as a 8-7-0 record and 0.903 Save% in 16 games for AHL Belleville and Lehigh Valley. McKenna has gained some notoriety this past season for his social media presence and has recorded and released 23 episodes (as of this writing) of his podcast, 6 Degrees with Mike McKenna, in which he interviews people, mostly involved with hockey and especially goaltending. The download is almost at 38,000 downloads as of this writing.
