Defenceman Nicklas Grossmann, who last played in the NHL for Calgary in 2016/17, has retired from pro hockey. Drafted in the second round, 56th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft by the Dallas Stars, Grossmann has 86 points (13G, 73A) in 592 games, as well as three points in 31 playoff games, for Dallas (2006/07-partway through 2011/12), Philadelphia (partway through 2011/12-2014/15), Arizona (2015/16), and Calgary (2016/17). Grossmann left the NHL during the 2016/17 season and played the rest of his career in his native Sweden, the last two seasons in the Allsvenskan. Grossmann has career-highs of 14 points, in 2014 and 2015 with Philadelphia, five goals in 2015 with Philadelphia, and 13 assists in 2014 with Philadelphia. Grossmann, 34, had zero points in three games for Calgary in his last NHL season, and finished his final pro season in the Allsvenskan with eight points in 28 games for Sodertalje SK after two seasons as team captain.
