Anaheim Ducks

The Ducks signed centre Sam Carrick to a one-year contract extension.

Arizona Coyotes

The Coyotes acquired a 2019 fourth-, fifth-, and seventh-round pick from Pittsburgh. They acquired centre Carl Soderberg from Colorado.

Boston Bruins

The Bruins signed defenceman Steven Kampfer to a two-year contract extension.

Buffalo Sabres

The Sabres acquired a 2019 fourth-round pick from Vancouver and a 2019 fifth-round pick from Detroit. Left winger Taylor Leier, who finished last season with the Buffalo organization, has signed a one-year contract with AHL Rochester. They acquired defenceman Colin Miller from Vegas.

Calgary Flames

The Flames made no moves this week.

Carolina Hurricanes

The Hurricanes acquired left winger Patrick Marleau, and 2020 first- and seventh-round picks from Toronto. They acquired a 2019 second- and third-round pick from Ottawa and acquired a 2019 third- and fourth-round pick from Minnesota. They acquired defenceman Gustav Forsling and goaltender Anton Forsberg from Chicago. They acquired centre Erik Haula from Vegas. They bought out Marleau. They signed goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic to a two-year contract extension.

Chicago Blackhawks

The Blackhawks acquired centre John Quenneville from New Jersey. They acquired defenceman Calvin De Haan and left winger Aleksi Saarela from Carolina. They signed left winger Dylan Sikura and centre John Quenneville to two-year contract extensions.

Colorado Avalanche

The Avalanche acquired defenceman Kevin Connauton and a 2020 third-round pick from Arizona. They acquired left winger Andre Burakovsky from Washington.

Columbus Blue Jackets

The Blue Jackets acquired two 2019 fourth-round picks from Florida. They signed defenceman Adam Clendening to a two-year contract extension. They signed left winger Eric Robinson to a one-year contract.

Dallas Stars

The Stars acquired right winger Ryan Hartman from Philadelphia. They signed defenceman Taylor Fedun to a two-year contract extension.

Detroit Red Wings

The Red Wings acquired a 2019 sixth-round and seventh-round pick from Buffalo.

Edmonton Oilers

The Oilers made no moves this week.

Florida Panthers

The Panthers acquired a 2019 third-round pick from Columbus and a 2019 fifth-round pick from Montreal.

Goaltender Roberto Luongo has retired from pro hockey. Drafted in the first round, fourth overall, in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft by the New York Islanders, Luongo has a 489-392-33-91 record, 0.919 Save%, 2.52 GAA, and 77 shutouts in 1044 games, as well as a 34-35 record, 0.918 Save%, 2.49 GAA, and five shutouts in 70 playoff games, for the Islanders (1999/00), Florida (2000/01-2005/06, partway through 2013/14-2018/19), and Vancouver (2006/07-partway through 2013/14). A two-time Gold Medal winner with Team Canada at the Olympics, Luongo has a William M. Jennings Trophy from his 2011 season with the Canucks, and represented Florida in the 2004, 2015, and 2016 All-Star Games, representing Vancouver in 2007 and 2009. Luongo has career highs of 47 wins in 2007, a 0.931 Save% in 2011, and nine shutouts in 2009, all with Vancouver. Luongo finished his final NHL season with an 18-16-5 record, 0.899 Save%, 3.12 GAA, and one shutout in 43 games for Florida. Luongo, 40, retires with three years remaining on the contract he had signed with Vancouver in 2010. As a result, Vancouver incurs a cap recapture penalty of $3,033,206 per year for three years, while Florida has a penalty of 1,094,128 per year for three people.

Los Angeles Kings

The Kings acquired a 2019 second-round pick from Montreal. Right winger Nikita Scherbak has signed a three-year contract in Russia with the KHL’s Avangard Omsk.

Minnesota Wild

The Wild acquired a 2019 second-round pick from Carolina and acquired a 2019 third-round pick from Nashville. They signed defenceman Brad Hunt to a two-year contract extension.

Montreal Canadiens

The Canadiens acquired a 2019 third- and fifth-round pick from Los Angeles, acquired a 2020 fourth-round pick from San Jose, acquired 2020 fifth-round pick from Florida, acquired a 2019 seventh-round pick from Philadelphia. They signed defenceman Mike Reilly to a two-year contract extension.

Nashville Predators

The Predators acquired defencemen Steven Santini and Jeremy Davies, and 2019 and 2020 second-round picks from New Jersey. They acquired a 2019 second- and third-round pick from Philadelphia and acquired future considerations from New Jersey. They acquired a 2020 third-round pick from Minnesota.

New Jersey Devils

The Devils acquired defenceman PK Subban from Nashville. They acquired two 2019 third-round picks from San Jose and acquired a 2019 fourth- and fifth-round pick from Washington. They acquired left winger Adam Helewka from New Jersey. They acquired right winger John Hayden from Chicago.

Ottawa Senators

The Sharks acquired a 2019 second- and third-round pick from Vegas, acquired a 2019 second-round pick from New Jersey, acquired left winger Tom Pyatt and a 2019 sixth-round pick from Vancouver, acquired a 2019 fourth-round pick from Montreal, acquired 2019 and 2020 seventh-round picks from Washington, and acquired a 2020 seventh-round pick from Pittsburgh.

St. Louis Blues

The Blues acquired a 2019 seventh-round pick from Toronto. They signed right winger Jordan Nolan to a one-year contract extension. They signed centre Nolan Stevens to a one-year contract extension. They signed head coach Craig Berube to a three-year contract extension. They signed defenceman Carl Gunnarsson to a two-year contract extension.

Tampa Bay Lightning

The Lightning acquired goaltender Marek Mazanec, a 2020 conditional first-round pick, and a 2019 third-round pick from Vancouver. They signed left winger Nolan Foote to a three-year entry-level contract.

Toronto Maple Leafs

The Maple Leafs acquired a 2020 sixth-round pick from Carolina. They acquired a 2020 seventh-round pick from St. Louis. They signed right winger Kasperi Kapanen to a three-year contract extension and signed left winger Andreas Johnsson to a four-year contract extension.

Vancouver Canucks

The Canucks acquired left winger Francis Perron and a 2019 seventh-round pick from San Jose. They acquired a 2019 fourth- and sixth-round pick from Buffalo. They acquired left winger JT Miller from Tampa Bay.

Vegas Golden Knights

The Golden Knights acquired a 2019 second-round pick from San Jose. They signed centre William Karlsson to an eight-year contract extension. They acquired centre Nicolas Roy and a conditional 2021 fifth-round pick from Carolina. They acquired a 2021 second-round pick and a 2022 conditional fifth-round pick from Buffalo.

Washington Capitals

The Capitals acquired a 2019 third-round pick from New Jersey and acquired a 2019 fifth-round pick from Washington. They acquired right winger Scott Kosmachuk, and a 2020 second- and third-round pick from Colorado.

Defenceman Brooks Orpik has retired from pro hockey. Drafted in the first round, 18th overall, in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft by the Pittsburgh Penguins, Orpik has 194 points (18G, 176A) in 1035 games, as well as 26 points (4G, 22A) in 156 playoff games, for Pittsburgh (2002/03-2013/14) and Washington (2014/15-2018/19). Orpik won Stanley Cups in 2009 with Pittsburgh and 2018 with Washington. Orpik has career highs of 25 points and 23 assists in 2010 with Pittsburgh and three goals in 2016 with Washington. In between the 2018 and 2019 seasons, Orpik was traded to Colorado, being bought out so he could re-sign for a cheaper deal with Washington. Orpik, 38, finished his final NHL season with nine points (2G, 7A) in 53 games for Washington.

Winnipeg Jets

The Jets made no moves this week.

Centre Matt Hendricks has retired from pro hockey. Drafted in the fifth round, 131st overall, in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft by the Nashville Predators, Hendricks has 116 points (54G, 62A) in 607 games, as well as two points (1G, 1A) in 39 playoff games, for Colorado (2008/09-2009/10), Washington (2010/11-2012/13), Nashville (part of 2013/14), Edmonton (partway through 2013/14-2016/17), Winnipeg (2017/18, part of 2018/19), and Minnesota (part of 2018/19). Hendricks has career-highs of 25 points, nine goals, and 16 assists in 2011 with Washington. Hendricks would never match those totals, declining further as a traditional energy forward through the decade. Hendricks, 38, finished his final NHL season with three points (0G, 3A) in 22 games between Minnesota and Winnipeg.
