Game Log

October 4th, 2018 – Winnipeg Jets 5 – 1 St. Louis Blues

This game was the season opener for both teams, and the home opener for St. Louis.

Connor Hellebuyck stopped 41-of-42 shots, five different Jets scored, and Kristian Vesalainen notched an assist in his first NHL game.

The game went from 1-0 to 4-0 in less than a two-minute span during the third period, and Jake Allen would allow a total of five goals on 25 shots.

October 22nd, 2018 – Winnipeg Jets 5 – 4 St. Louis Blues

The Jets continued their hot start to the season, and moved to 6-2-1 on the year, tying the game with the Winnipeg net empty, then winning it in overtime courtesy a Jacob Trouba goal off of a great slap pass by Kyle Connor.

Ryan O’Reilly had three points for St. Louis, while Winnipeg’s Mark Scheifele had a four point night.

November 24th, 2018 – Winnipeg Jets 8 – 4 St. Louis Blues

The Blues opened the scoring and it was 2-2 after the first period. But from then on, it was all Jets. Or should I say, all Patrik Laine? After scoring one in the first, Laine scored three more in the second and a fifth in the third period, as the Jets routed the Blues 8-4. Bryan Little and Kyle Connor each had four assists in the effort.

December 7th, 2018 – Winnipeg Jets 0 – 1 St. Louis Blues

The Blues won the final matchup between the two teams, winning by a 1-0 score when the Jets were unable to get anything past Jake Allen, who stopped 26 shots in the shutout victory.

Winnipeg went 0-for-6 on the power play, while St. Louis went 1-for-2, with Colton Parayko scoring the game’s lone goal. Connor Hellebuyck stopped 26-of-27 in the loss.

At the time, the team’s records were 17-9-2 for Winnipeg and 10-13-4 for St. Louis.

X-Factor

A major part of the resurgence of the Blues, and their appearance in the playoffs, was the arrival and play of Jordan Binnington. Binnington made his NHL debut on January 7th, posting a shutout over the Philadelphia Flyers. WHile he’s allowed some goals since then, his numbers have been absolutely terrific, posting a 24-5-1 record, with five shutouts, a .927 save percentage and a 1.89 goals against average, proving to be an X-factor that the Jets never faced this year.

The Blues could definitely use the help, as the Jets scored 18 goals on 123 shots against St. Louis, resulting in a .854 team save percentage, while Winnipeg’s Connor Hellebuyck and Laurent Brossoit combined for a .923 team save percentage against the Blues.
