The Winnipeg Jets are playing the defending Stanley Cup Champions in a game that will feature two teams that are both playing below expectations, but hiding behind winning records. The Jets do seem to be putting things together a bit more as of late, but are hindered by their two major injuries on defence.

The Washington Capitals had an odd start to their summer to say the least. Barry Trotz won the Stanley Cup with them and wanted a raise for his new contract; his team did not agree and Trotz left to the New York Islanders. Weird start, but okay. The Capitals hired Todd Reirden to replace Trotz and they are now winning games, but not playing their best.

One of their players who is playing their best is Alex Ovechkin. Ovi has once again lit the league on fire from his spot. He can score goals like no one else and it shows. Their forward lines in general are deep and solid. Much like the Jets, the Capitals are prone to more bad games than good and coasting by on their talent. If both teams can turn it around for the playoffs, watch out.

Who to Watch:

Evgeny Kuznetsov made himself an enemy for life in Don Cherry when he flapped his arms like an eagle for his young daughter to celebrate a goal, so he just did it more.

Kevin Hayes had an excellent game against the Carolina Hurricanes and looks like he is settling in real well.
