Preview and GDT: Winnipeg Jets vs Colorado Avalanche

Time: 7:00 CT

TV: TSN 3

Radio: TSN 1290

Introduction:

The Winnipeg Jets end 2019 in Denver against the Colorado Avalanche. The Jets need to turn things around as they are on a three game losing streak, which has placed them firmly in a logjam for the wildcard playoff spot with six other teams. The Jets have only won two of their last eight games.

There is some good news for the Jets as it looks like Mathieu Perreault may be back in the line up tonight. Unfortunately,  Andrew Copp is still not close to a return, which does not help the Jets penalty killing issues, currently ranked 30th in the NHL.

Local media had an interview with GM Kevin Cheveldayoff yesterday covering many topics including the Dustin Byfuglien situation. The short version on whether he’ll return to the Jets this season is as we have all expected – unlikely.

Colorado will be hungry for a win tonight as they have  lost two in a row and are 4-4-2 in their last 10 games. Gabriel Landeskog,  Mikko Rantanen and Nathan MacKinnon are one of the best lines in the NHL, and their defense features star in waiting, Cale Makar. The Pepsi Center has been a tough arena for the Jets to win in over the years, so the Jets are going to have to have with playoff level intensity if they hope to end 2019 on a positive note.

Congratulations to Mark Scheifele and Connor Hellebuyck for being named to Central Division team for the 2020 All Star Game in St. Louis. There’s still a chance for Patrik Laine to be voted in as well.

Go Jets!!!!!!!!!
