Centre Torrey Mitchell has retired from pro hockey. Drafted in the fourth round, 126th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, by the San Jose Sharks, Mitchell has 152 points (67G, 85A) in 666 games, as well as 18 points (5G, 13A) in 79 playoff games, for San Jose (2007/08-2011/12), Minnesota (2012/13-partway through 2013/14), Buffalo (partway through 2013/14-partway through 2013/14), Montreal (partway through 2013/14-partway through 2017/18), and Los Angeles (part of 2017/18). Mitchell’s career-highs are 23 points and 14 assists in 2011 with San Jose and 11 goals in 2016 with Montreal. Mitchell carved out a solid 10 years in the NHL as a bottom-six defensive forward. In his last NHL season, Mitchell had 11 points (6G, 5A) in 60 games for Montreal and Los Angeles. In his last season, he scored 12 points in 28 games for Lausanne HC of the Swiss National League A. Mitchell, 34, has opened a training facility in Essex Junction, VT.
