Preview: Winnipeg Jets vs Nashville Predators

The Winnipeg Jets have been surging. The Nashville Predators have been struggling. Sounds like a great time for the two teams to play a hockey game. The Jets have had an excellent November and the Predators have not. While the Jets have somewhat sorted out their play and found a way to hide their deficiencies, the Predators seem to have done the opposite.

The Preds made an interesting decision this offseason to trade PK Subban to the New Jersey Devils. They did not get an overly good return as well, which is saying something. On the other hand, I don’t think it is fair to pin the Preds struggle on their decision to trade Subban. On paper they had the defensive depth to make that decision, but hockey isn’t played on paper.

On the Jets side, they also traded a defenceman this offseason in Jacob Trouba and then have been without Dustin Byfuglien all season. They have learned to manage, however ugly it has looked at times. They have gotten steady goaltending from Connor Hellebuyck and the offence is getting back on track.

Prediction

These games always end up being excellent no matter how badly one of the teams is playing leading up to this game and this one will be the same.
