Heritage Classic Preview: Winnipeg Jets vs Calgary Flames

Time: 9:00 PM

Channel: CBC, Sportsnet, CITY, NBCSN

Radio: TSN1290

It is time for the Heritage Classic in Regina against the Calgary Flames. It is time for a game to start at 8:00 PM local time in a stadium where a strong north wind is forecast. This game could be very cold, very dark, and very long. I wonder if anyone really thought this through or if they just thought that having a game in Saskatchewan was a really good idea.

A little about why the first Heritage Classic the Jets played in worked weather wise and this one doesn’t work as well: spring temperatures just feel warmer versus autumn temperatures. The autumn air has a natural chill to it and that will only add to the coolness that the game will have.

Why are they playing at such a weird time? It is quite possible that the mid-afternoon sun would have made it impossible to run the game on time. However, the sun sets quite early so they probably could have started before eight PM. All that said, it will be nice watching hockey with all of you are midnight hoping the game is over soon.

Anyways, the Flames are also a roughly .500 team who is also running a less than optimal lineup and is relying on a goalie to do well. Wait, that sounds like the Jets. They have met their match and this game should be a good one as long as the weather co-operates, the ice remains good, and no one freezes.

Prediction

We all rue the fact we were robbed of a double Atlanta jersey throwback night.
