Goaltender Michael Leighton has retired from pro hockey. Drafted in the sixth round, 165th overall, in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft by the Chicago Blackhawks, Leighton has a 37-43-10-4 record, 0.900 Save%, 2.98 GAA, and four shutouts in 110 games, as well as an 8-4 record, 0.913 Save%, 2.54 GAA, and three shutouts in 16 playoff games, for Chicago (2002/03-2003/04, 2015/16), Nashville (part of 2006/07), Philadelphia (part of 2006/07, partway through 2009/10-2010/11, 2012/13), and Carolina (2007/08-partway through 2009/10, 2016/17). Leighton was a depth goaltender throughout his career, but had his moment in the sun in 2010, when he played 14 playoff games en route to the Stanley Cup Final, which he lost against Chicago. Leighton has career highs of 17 wins in 2010 with Carolina and Philadelphia, 0.941 Save% and 1.56 GAA in 2016 with Chicago, and two shutouts in 2004 with Chicago, though it is worth mentioning that those other marks are in cups of coffee at the NHL level. Leighton finished his final season with NHL action with a 2-2-0 record, 0.870 Save%. 3.42 GAA, and zero shutouts in four games for Carolina as well as an 11-7-3 record and 0.921 Save% in 23 games for AHL Charlotte. He finished his final season of pro hockey with a 9-10-1 record and 0.895 Save% in 22 games between AHL Ontario and AHL Utica. Leighton, 38, finished his final pro season under contract with Vancouver.
