Preview: Winnipeg Jets vs Nashville Predators

Time: 7:00 PM CST

Channel: TSN3

Radio: TSN1290

The Winnipeg Jets are playing the Nashville Predators again after a successful game against the Vegas Golden Knights. The Predators seem to bring out the best in the Jets which is always a welcomed sign.

The Jets are currently waiting the status of Ben Chiarot before they decide on their defence pairings for tonight’s game. With Chiarot out against the Golden Knights, Dmitry Kulikov joined his regular partner Tyler Myers on the second pair. Expect this to continue if Chiarot is out tonight.

As for the forwards, nothing as changed and the Jets are still running their usual line combinations. It is unlikely any changes will be made although Nic Petan is probably due for a game soon. That game would be on the fourth line, but it is unlikely that Paul Maurice will make changes before tonight’s match up.

As for the Predators, they have the full strength of their defence back with the return of PK Subban a couple of weeks ago. Outside of that, it has been business as usual for one of the most consistent and reliable teams in the NHL. I know a lot has been made about how good the Golden Knights have been over the past couple of seasons, but the Predators are the original expansion success story. They have been consistently good for so long it is hard to remember them not making the playoffs.

The Jets have one more game before they get an extended All-Star Break of sorts. I believe their bye-week is next week as they have no games. Blake Wheeler and Mark Scheifele will return to games on January 27 for the All Star Tournament while January 26 is the Skills Competition.
