Winnipeg Jets release Young Stars roster

The Winnipeg Jets have announced their Young Stars Tournament roster for the Penticton event that happens later this month. They will be playing against the Vancouver Canucks, as the Calgary Flames and the Edmonton Oilers have opted out this year.

The Jets roster features Kristian Vesalainen, who is under contract with the team and could see himself in the NHL this year. It is still not clear if he has a European clause in his contract if he does not make the team.

There is also Russian goalie Mikhail Berdin, who was drafted out of the USHL and never played in the NCAA. He is also under contract and should be in the Jets system this year.

There are players like Joey Ratelle and Duncan McGovern who are looking for a contract of some type for the upcoming season. Other than tryouts, the Jets also have players like CJ Suess and Skyler McKenzie who signed with the club after strong seasons.

2018 NHL Entry Draft 2nd round pick David Gustafsson will not play, as he continues to recover from an ankle injury suffered August 13 that will see him miss eight weeks.

Additional schedule and streaming info to follow.
