Lowry Re-Signs For 3 Years, $8.75 million

The Winnipeg Jets have re-signed another one of their restricted free-agents. as Adam Lowry has agreed to a three-year, 8.75 million dollar contract.

Lowry, was scheduled to have an arbitration hearing on July 22nd, but that will no longer be required. Restricted free-agents still facing arbitration hearings are Jacob Trouba (tomorrow), Brandon Tanev (July 25) and Marko Dano (July 30).

Lowry, 25, has played all of his professional career in the Winnipeg Jets organization, having been a 3rd round pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. In 281 career NHL games, Lowry has 41 goals and 49 assists for 90 points. In 2017-18, an upper body injury limited him to 45 games played, with eight goals and 13 assists fro 21 points in that time. Lowry also appeared in all 17 playoff games, where he had two assists. He will be 28 and an unrestricted free-agent when this contract expires.

While known to use his size to throw the body around, Lowry tends to do it in a smart way. He amassed just eight PIMs last year. He makes regular appearances on the penalty kill, less frequent appearances on the power play and won 55.9 per cent of face-offs he took last season.

Per CapFriendy, this move leaves the Jets with $17,722,504 in projected room under the salary cap, with five RFAs (Trouba, Tanev, Dano, Tucker Poolman and Josh Morrissey) still to be signed.
