The Winnipeg Jets select Austin Wong 215th overall

The Winnipeg Jets have drafted Austin Wong 215th overall. He plays for the Okotoks Oilers in the AJHL. He is 17 years old and does not turn 18 until the end of August. He will play at Harvard University next year. He had 54 points in 55 games last season with 235 penalty minutes. His older brother is AHL player Tyler Wong.

His highest ranking was 175 by Hockey Prospectus and beyond that there is not a lot on him out there. He is a seventh round pick and is probably at least three years from considering turning professional. Hopefully he does well at Harvard and is signed by the Jets when he is ready.

For now, let us also collectively mourn the time the NHL robbed us all of Nando Eggenberger’s name being on the draft board. How rude of them.
