Right winger Tom Kostopoulos, who attended training camp with the Penguins this past fall, has retired from hockey. Drafted in the seventh round, 204th overall, in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft by the Pittsburgh Penguins, Kostopoulos has 157 points (61G, 96A) in 630 games, as well as five points (3G, 2A) in 16 playoff games, for Pittsburgh (2001/02-2003/04), Los Angeles (2005/06-2006/07), Montreal (2007/08-2008/09), Carolina (2009/10-partway through 2010/11), Calgary (partway through 2010/11-2011/12), and New Jersey (2012/13). In each of his past five NHL seasons, Kostopoulos has attended training camp with the Penguins before being sent to play for AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton as the team captain. Kostpoulos finished his most recent pro season with 19 points (5G, 14A) in 31 games for the AHL’s Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. Kostopoulos, 39 finished his most recent NHL season with one point (1G, 0A) in 15 games for the New Jersey Devils and has career-highs of 22 points in 2004 with Pittsburgh, 2006 and 2007 with Los Angeles, and 2009 with Montreal; nine goals in 2004 with Pittsburgh; and 15 points in 2007 with Los Angeles.
