Preview: Winnipeg Jets vs Calgary Flames

Time: 7:00 PM CST

Channel: TSN3

Radio: TSN1290

The Winnipeg Jets are playing the Calgary Flames as they look to shake their turkey legs and get back to it tonight at Bell MTS Place. The Flames are on a hot streak after learning that Dave Rittich AKA Big Save Dave should be their starting goalie instead of Mike Smith. The Jets also went into their break on a bit of a hot streak, but some of those wins looked a little tough on the Jets.

Wins looking tough for the Jets is a running theme and should be seen as a good thing. The Jets are where they are while every win looks tough for them. Things are not working close to as well as they were last season and yet they are winning games at a higher rate. That says a lot about the Jets talent level. Sometimes talent does win out.

The Flames are led by the likes of Johnny Gaudreau and Mark Giordano. They play a fast, skilled game that allowed them to come back in plenty of games before Rittich took over goalie duties. The Jets will need their speed game ready to go from the first whistle and will probably look to Mark Scheifele’s line to match up against the Gaudreau line. Any other match ups are up in the air.

Coverage will be erratic for the rest of this week for Christmas break. Links will be back again soon as I needed a couple days off.
