Preview: Winnipeg Jets vs Florida Panthers

Time: 1:00 PM CST

Channel: TSN3

Radio: TSN1290

Enemy Territory: Litterbox Cats

The Winnipeg Jets look to build off of the win yesterday in Finland with another one today. They will most likely ice the same lineup today with the starting goalie being the possible exception. Hopefully the lines stay the same as they were yesterday because they are starting to work. My only concern is Patrik Laine will not start to produce 5 on 5 with Brandon Tanev and Adam Lowry.

There should be no concerns about the Jets being tired in a back to back because the Florida Panthers are also playing in a back to back game. All in all, no one is at a disadvantage. The Panthers might be started noted tweeter Roberto Luongo, but again, nothing is confirmed.

One area that the Jets are going to want to firm up is their penalty taking prowess. They need to make it impossible for the NHL to call anything on them because they are not doing something that can be interpreted as rule breaking. This might sound hard, but the Jets pulled it off last year and they can do it again.

Finally, one of the reasons the Jets might not be playing as well this year lies in the fact that they are playing less East-West than last year. That means less time spent making goalies and defences move for them and less opportunities opening up that way for them to score. It seems like a little thing, but movement like that can help compensate for players that a team lost to free agency or even injuries down the road.
