Anaheim Ducks

The Ducks claimed left winger Pontus Aberg off waivers from Edmonton.

Arizona Coyotes

The Coyotes reassigned centre Laurent Dauphin to AHL Tuscon for conditioning purposes.

Boston Bruins

The Bruins reassigned defenceman Urho Vaakanainen to AHL Providence. Defenceman Mark Fayne, who participated in Bruins training camp, has signed a PTO with AHL Providence.

Buffalo Sabres

The Sabres acquired defenceman Jack Dougherty from Nashville. They claimed left winger Remi Elie off waivers from Dallas.

Calgary Flames

The Flames acquired defencemen Matt Taormina and Rinat Valiev from Montreal. They recalled defenceman Rasmus Andersson from AHL Stockton. They reassigned centre Curtis Lazar. Defenceman Ryan Sproul, who participated in Flames training camp, has signed a PTO with AHL Toronto. Goaltender Jeff Glass, who participated in Flames training camp, has signed with AHL Toronto.

Carolina Hurricanes

The Hurricanes claimed goaltender Curtis McElhinney off waivers from Toronto.

Chicago Blackhawks

The Blackhawks recalled goaltender Collin Delia from AHL Rockford.

Colorado Avalanche

The Avalanche reassigned defenceman Anton Lindholm and centre Vladislav Kamenev to AHL Colorado.

Columbus Blue Jackets

The Blue Jackets made no moves this week.

Dallas Stars

The Stars acquired defenceman Connor Carrick from Toronto.

Detroit Red Wings

The Red Wings released left winger Jussi Jokinen from his PTO.

Edmonton Oilers

The Oilers acquired a conditional 2020 sixth-round pick from St. Louis. They signed right winger Alex Chiasson and defenceman Jason Garrison to one-year contracts.

Florida Panthers

The Panthers made no moves this week.

Right winger Radim Vrbata has retired from the NHL. Drafted in the seventh round, 212th overall, in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft by the Colorado Avalanche, Vrbata has 623 points (284G, 339A) in 1057 games, as well as 18 points (8G, 10A) in 42 playoff games, for Colorado (2001/02-partway through 2002/03), Carolina (partway through 2002/03-partway through 2005/06), Chicago (partway through 2005/06-2006/07), Phoenix/Arizona (2007/08, 2009/10-2013/14, 2016/17), Tampa Bay (2008/09), Vancouver (2014/15-2015/16), and Florida (2017/18). Vrbata represented the Canucks in the 2015 All-Star Game. Vrbata made his retirement announcement ahead of the final game of the season, in which he didn’t play. Vrbata, 36, finished his final season with 14 points (5G, 9A) in 42 games and has career-highs of 63 points in 2015 with Vancouver, 35 goals in 2012 with Phoenix, and 35 assists in 2017 with Arizona.

Los Angeles Kings

The Kings made no moves this week.

Minnesota Wild

The Wild acquired right winger Will Bitten from Montreal.

Montreal Canadiens

The Canadiens named defenceman Shea Weber team captain. They acquired defenceman Brett Kulak from Calgary. They released defenceman Simon Despres from training camp, offering him an AHL contract. They acquired defenceman Gustav Olofsson from Minnesota. They signed defenceman Cale Fleury to a three-year entry-level contract

Nashville Predators

The Predators acquired right winger Nicholas Baptiste from Buffalo.

Left winger Scott Hartnell has retired from pro hockey. Drafted in the first round, sixth round, in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft by the Nashville Predators, Hartnell has 707 points (327G, 380A) in 1249 games, as well as 47 points (19G, 28A) in 99 playoff games, for Nashville (2000/01-2006/07, 2017/18), Philadelphia (2007/08-2013/14), and Columbus (2014/15-2016/17). Hartnell has career-highs of 37 goals and 67 points, both reached in 2012 with Philadelphia, and 32 assists, attained in 2014 with Philadelphia and 2015 with Columbus. Hartnell also represented Philadelphia in the 2012 All-Star Game. In his final season, Hartnell, having been bought out of his final contract year with Columbus, returned to his draft team, the Predators, and wrapped up his career with 24 points (13G, 11A).

New Jersey Devils

The Devils re-signed right winger Drew Stafford to a one-year contract.

New York Islanders

The Islanders made no moves this week.

New York Rangers

The Rangers made no moves this week.

Ottawa Senators

The Senators recalled centre Paul Carey from AHL Belleville.

Philadelphia Flyers

The Flyers claimed goaltender Calvin Pickard off waivers from Toronto.

Pittsburgh Penguins

The Penguins reassigned goaltender Tristan Jarry to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

San Jose Sharks

The Sharks signed left winger Barclay Goodrow to a two-year contract extension.

St. Louis Blues

The Blues acquired defenceman Jakub Jerabek from Edmonton. They reassigned defenceman Niko Mikkola to AHL San Antonio and recalled right winger Chris Thorburn.

Tampa Bay Lightning

The Lightning made no moves this week.

Toronto Maple Leafs

The Maple Leafs acquired a conditional 2019 seventh-round pick from Dallas.

Vancouver Canucks

The Canucks made no moves this week.

Vegas Golden Knights

The Golden Knights made no moves this week.

Washington Capitals

The Capitals signed right winger Riley Sutter to a three-year entry-level contract. They claimed right winger Dmitrij Jaskin off waivers from St. Louis. Right winger Tom Wilson has been suspended 20 games for an illegal check to the head of St. Louis’ Oskar Sundqvist.

Winnipeg Jets

The Jets made no moves this week.

The NHL Executive Committee has voted 9-0 to approve a vote at the December Board of Governors meeting for a Seattle-based expansion franchise to begin play in 2020/21.
