Mark Scheifele named the NHL’s Second Star of the week

The Jets star is getting recognized.

Winnipeg Jets centre Mark Scheifele has been named the NHL’s Second Star of the Week for his four goal, three assist performance this week. Scheifele has been a consistent offensive contributor for the Jets. He has been able to provide the much-needing scoring all the while also being responsible defensively and killing penalties.

In the long run, the NHL weekly stars mean nothing, but it is always nice when a player gets recognized for their strong play like Scheifele has. He has been a key piece to the Jets for a few seasons now and the league-wide recognition that he has garnered is always nice to see. While Blake Wheeler got the press last season, Scheifele was a key piece for the Jets success. He is strong defensively and leader.

The Jets next game is Thursday afternoon at 1:00 PM against the Florida Panthers. They are playing in Helsinki, Finland.
