Roster Move: Kristian Vesalainen assigned to AHL

In a move that just makes sense, the Winnipeg Jets have assigned forward Kristian Vesalainen to the AHL. He was a healthy scratch for the past two games. Vesalainen has no European contract clause and will be in North America for the entire season as he has no contract over in Europe.

This is the right move for Vesalainen. It will allow him to play more minutes and adjust to North American professional hockey in a less win or die environment. The Jets will also now be able to potentially save a year on his contract as he is under 20 and has not played 10 games yet.

This is the best thing that the Jets could have done for Vesalainen. They could have kept him until their games in Finland, but decided to have him play instead. They now have the roster space to make a callup if desired.
