Preview: Winnipeg Jets vs Carolina Hurricanes

Time: 6:00 PM CST

Channel: Sportsnet (Hometown Hockey)

Radio: TSN1290

The Carolina Hurricanes have seen a huge improvement over last season to start this season, picking up points in their first five games under the tutelage of new head coach Rod Brind’Amour. They had 57 shots last night in Minnesota and hope to copy that performance tonight.

Following an off-season of roster shakeups including trading Jeff Skinner to the Buffalo Sabres and trading Elias Lindholm for noted museum lover Dougie Hamilton, the ‘Canes look to finally be on the rebound. Head coach Bill Peters is also gone, having been replaced by the aforementioned Brind’Amour.

The Jets have been struggling with their defensive coverage as of late and it is starting to show in their results. They also had a rough start to last season with Connor Hellebuyck bailing them out. If the struggle continues, it will be interesting to see if general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff does not try to make a move to help the Jets out, even if that move is simply calling up Sami Niku.
