Steve Mason out with a concussion

When Steve Mason came down with an illness before the Winnipeg Jets faced the Chicago Blackhawks, he was sent back to Winnipeg to be checked out by doctors. Since the team has returned from their bye week, the Winnipeg Jets gave a medical update on Mason and announced that he is out with another concussion. This is his second concussion since November.

Mason has already missed about a week of action having been injured right before the Jets had a break, but that is little solace to the fact he has suffered two concussion so close together. He was able to come back quickly from the first concussion, but suffering a second one only a couple months later is concerning.

In the mean time, Michael Hutchinson will assume back up duties behind Connor Hellebuyck and Eric Comrie will be the uncontested starter for the Manitoba Moose. This probably should put an end to any trade talk around Hutchinson until Mason returns to health.
