Altitude Check: Winnipeg Jets news and notes for Tuesday, July 11, 2017

The dog days of summer are officially upon us and hopefully things keep happening.

Winnipeg Jets News:

Brandon Tanev is a Jet for one more season after signing a new contract for $700 000. This contract has very little impact on the Jets as it can be buried in the AHL for nothing but True North Sports and Entertainment’s money. The one-way nature of the contract may have made it so Tanev would take a pay cut. (Arctic Ice Hockey)

NHL News:

Pittsburgh Penguins defenceman Kristopher Letang expects to be back by the start of training camp. (TVA)

Pierre Turgeon has been named an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Kings. (Twitter)

Same with Lindy Ruff and the New York Rangers. (Twitter)

Johann Auvitu has signed a contract with the Edmonton Oilers. (Twitter)

The man who wrote the Hartford Whalers legendary goal song, The Brass Bonanza, has died. Jacques Ysaye was 94. (Deadspin)
