Winnipeg Jets sign Michael Sgarbossa

The Winnipeg Jets have signed veteran AHL centre Michael Sgarbossa to a one way, one year contract worth $650 000. The one way nature means he will be paid the same if he in the AHL as in the NHL.

This is a depth signing for the Jets and while Sgarbossa will most likely be in the AHL, but he has spent time in the NHL the past few seasons.

The Jets have needed to make improvements to the Manitoba Moose for the past few seasons as the team have struggled to win games year to year.

This is the final move in a day that saw the Jets make moves to improve their roster by signing a startibg goalie in Steve Mason and another defenseman in Dmitry Kulikov. These are solid moves that should help the Jets make the playoffs in the coming years. It is hard to know the implications of these moves on future signings of RFAs on the roster.
