NHL Draft 2017: Winnipeg Jets select Arvid Holm with the 167 overall pick

The Winnipeg Jets have selected Swedish goaltender Arvid Holm with their sixth round pick. Holm played last season with Karlskrona’s junior team. Previously he was with the IF Troja-Ljungby playing for their J-18 and J-20 teams.

Holm recorded a 2.91 GAA and a 0.906 save percentage while playing in the SuperElit league last year. He did not play a game in the SEL. There is not a lot out there on him, but he is 6’4” so he should cover a lot of the net. He has not played for Sweden internationally.

It is important that no matter the league he is playing in he gets playing time so he can continue to improve. It is also important that he be given time to work with a dedicated goalie coach. Sweden is one of the best countries for this so leaving him in Europe could do his development wonders.

The Jets have two more draft picks, both in the seventh round.
